Pardo says Blizzard still not interested in bringing WoW to consoles {WoW}
Jun 25th 2009 11:41AM It's not that difficult & it will happen. It very probably won't happen with Wow due to the fact that it's too much work for too little profit, but the Blizzard next MMO will be designed with consoles in mind. Consoles are just computers built solely for games & the line between them is blurring more each day. If kids loved "Excel Spreadsheet Madness", you'd find it on a console.
It won't hit Sony, their drop of market dominance from the PS2 to the PS3 & M$'s takeover will ensure that the next Blizz MMO will hit the next gen XBox. Sony's PS3 won the fight for better machine, but Microsoft won the war. Microsoft wants a chunk of those 11 million users on Live & Blizzard wants the millions of console gamers who will be able to log thru some Battlenet opt-in to get to all of their games on both.
The next big Blizzard MMO won't come to multiple consoles because M$ will spend as much cash as they need to buy the exclusivity. They'll outspend Sony in a heartbeat for the guaranteed future profit.
The controller issue won't be one, someone will work that out to the majority's content with some sort of keyboard/mouse hybrid that's comfortable from a couch (necessity will guarantee it). The patches will be handled by Blizz & they'll ensure that they'll be timely & as quick as possible, M$ would probably screw it up & Blizzard doesn't screw up things that big. I'm not sure if the game will run thru Live at all or if Live will just make a connection to Blizzard servers but the network won't bog down (maybe at first but not eventually).
The add-ons are the only thing I think might fall by the way side. Someone may create some sort of manager that handles it & Live may even sell them like they do all sorts of other add-ons, actually they probably will sell them. Jerks.
The only reason this wouldn't happen is if Blizzard's necessity for control & quality bumps heads with Microsoft's need for control & profit. Every other issue can be solved with BILLIONS OF DOLLARS!
That is the future, enjoy.

Jun 10th 2009 1:54PM You totally forgot Unicron. The planet that turned into a robot that can stand...on......a bigger planet?
I totally thought it was an obvious play up to Ultra-Magnus when all of a sudden, instead of the obvious only other semi-rig there becoming the new leader with a magically disappearing car-carrier, they turn a cool sports car into a lame mac truck.

Jun 10th 2009 10:55AM It was NOT the right thing to do. It was a waste of billions of dollars. The right thing to do as the goddammed President of the United States would be to handle the situation. If there's a changeover coming that would cause the process to flow into the next administration, work it out with them & handle the dammed situation.
He's the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES! Passing the buck is NOT the right way to handle ANYTHING EVER & even more so to the tune of BILLIONS of dollars. Maybe you people have forgotten but that's still a LOT of money!
I know politicians typically suck & can't get along either but don't confuse your lower expectations for them with "right" thing to do.
WoW, Casually: What is casual? {WoW}
Jun 9th 2009 1:05PM I just realized that I made that backwards.
It should be S = (D * Ap) * 5 - (Hr + R).
If S is positive you're Casual & if it's negative you're hardcore. You can probably guess I'm casual but I've really got to get my Dependents up so I can start playing more.
It's that new math.
WoW, Casually: What is casual? {WoW}
Jun 9th 2009 12:57PM S = (HP + R) - D * Ap
S = Status (as a player)
HP = Hours played (including raid time per week)
R = Number of raids attended (per week)
D = Dependents (children/relatives/sig others, needy ones count double)
Ap = Appointments (any you SHOULD be attending per week)
If S is less than or equal to 18 you are a casual player.
If S is greater than 18 you are hardcore.
The debate is over.
Well, that's until Elitist Jerks breaks my bad joke down into it's own colorful flow/pie chart spreadsheet including time spent reading about Wow at work & number of Raid bosses downed a week versus time spent ignoring your RL dependents for Wow & how many IG relationships you've had.
Sorry, my nerd envy procced.

Jun 3rd 2009 1:05PM Guild housing seems a big request. Make guild "apartments" with open areas in the middle for socializing & all open so people can just walk in & look at other guilds achievements & trophies & symbols. I think socializing would increase between the guilds in the apt & they could even form alliances.
Flying in the old world combined with turning those areas that need development into new content killing 2 birds with 1 stone. While they're at it a graphics upgrade for the old world wouldn't hurt but that seems pipe-dreaming.
Cosmetic gear isn't too tough, allow a newer items stats to over-ride an old items stats & you've got the old item with the new stats. Also dying items isn't too tough either.
Allow a player to create lvl 55 characters, but limit it to 1 for every 80 attained from lvl 1.
Pirate ship combat. I think it would be cool to fight on that gigantic ocean & a group would be needed to man the ship & pull the right ropes at the right times so the pilot couldn't pilot the ship alone for optimal speed. You'd need other crew members to man the cannons too.
Mounted combat that's at least defensive. Being able to be hit while on a horse but not defend is kinda lame. I'd rather they just implement mounted combat & include minor skills & talents for each class for upgradable abilities.
Learning other races dance moves doesn't seem too far fetched, & for god's sake can someone teach the undead female to stand up straight! My back hurts just looking at her.

Jun 3rd 2009 11:58AM I think they should combine the upgrading of the old world to be fly-able & new content by putting new content into the old world areas they'd have to upgrade. All those empty areas that have no graphics because nobody could see them get graphics that are instead of simply a "filler" they put an entire new zone in there. What appears to be a simple plateau can turn into a huge cavern zone or a simple level 80-90 valley that's not reachable without a flying mount. You'd kill 2 birds with 1 stone & not have to create an entirely new continent for the new patch.
