Edwin Eugene "Buzz" Aldrin, Jr. probably isn't the first person you'd think of to do a collaboration with Nike 6.0. Nigel Sylvester? Absolutely. A 79-year-old former astronaut who was the second man to walk on the moon? Not so much. But the old explorer is exactly who Nike selected to work with them on the new Mavrk Mid 2. It looks Vulcanized, but the Mavrk 2 actually utilizes a cold-wrap process which is friendlier to the environment and creates a lighter, more comfortable shoe. The outsole has Nike Free-inspired grooves, the contrasting Swooshes represent the light and dark sides of the moon, and the uppers are printed with photos shot by Aldrin himself on the Apollo 11 mission. Capping it all off, the insoles are printed with actual footprints he left on the moon. They drop January 1 for $85. More shots follow.
