Prolific San Francisco Bay Area graffiti artist GIRAFA (born Steven Free) has been arrested. According to the San Jose Mercury News, Free was arrested on Tuesday, October 27. The San Jose police department did not announce the arrest until Thursday, October 29, noting that besides a $100,000 warrant, Free had been charged in 10 felony cases that also include $40,000 in damages throughout the San Jose area.
Police also found thousands of examples of Lee's handiwork-usually caricatures of giraffes-throughout his home and also noted their appearance on "social websites." "He was just causing a lot of vandalism around the Bay Area, anywhere he would find a spot, he would use this moniker," is what a police officer told the San Jose Mercury.
Fame has its rewards, and consequences.

I live in the Berryessa district of San Jose, and I love Girafa, He has a slap tag on the inside of the Mercury News dispenser near my house and now that he's
gone, Its a freakin treasure. It sucks ass that he got caught. I was goin over to palo alto with my ma last week, and I saw his stuff on a building next to one of the exits. My ma saw it and loved it. She's like 60 years old too. I wonder what he'll do now....
