Every fall we look forward to the Halloween product roll out. From kicks to accessories and toys, in the past decade, we've come to count on our favorite brands to drop a spooky set of items.Maybe it's a sign that we're dealing with a generation that never grew up. A bunch of gore-obsessed super-teens, running their own businesses or making decisions at a big name brand. Whatever the case, we're not complaining. But, it is kind of weird that there are now designer options to the good old drugstore, Spencer Gifts type Halloween goods. For the one's that never grew up, and don't wince at someone getting chopped in half, here's a look at 2009's ten best Halloween products.
10) Stussy "Rock My Gore" Halloween T-ShirtEverything's open to an October interpretation, including Stussy's classic imagery. Typically flipping traditional imagery with a hip-hop twist, Stussy gets spooky with these kids on the Dracula-axe-murderer tip.
9) Halloween Be@rbrick 2009Available in regular and medium size (100% and 400%), this one-time-only collectible celebrates the seasons with a flocked and glow in the dark combo Be@rbrick. Set up the 400% size in your kitchen in the dark and give your loved ones a near death experience.
8) Ron English x Secret Base Halloween McSupersized FigureAs if eating McDonalds wasn't scary enough, this version of the McSuperized figure created by Ron English and Japanese toy company Secret Base skips the fat-Ronald facade for a look deeper inside - the fat skeleton inside. Talk about big-boneded.
7) Flying Coffin Halloween 2009 T-ShirtLimited to 31 pieces, this season west coast t-shirt brand Flying Coffin dropped their own special Halloween graphic - a flaming pumpkin, you know, just doing some reading up. We don't think he's reading Twilight fan fiction.
6) Limited-Edition Dirty Donny x Vannen Halloween WatchesDirty Donny created Vannen's holiday offering, a set of toothy, ghoulish time keepers. With a nod to the Swatch silhouette, if you're really into the darkside, and knowing what time it is, Vannen's got your number.
5) Project Squadt's Chipp 003 Halloween Skelsuit Figure Cute meeting scary is definitely here to stay. Gloomy Bear should watch out for Project Squadt's Chipp 003, a 2009 Halloween special edition surely out for blood this Halloween. Get him before he gets you.
4) PLASEEBO 2009 Halloween Night Gamer Limited edition, gross and weird. Sounds good. These Halloween Night Gamers come from another dimension to freak you out. Roto-cast in orange vinyl, Night Gamers come with an LED unit inside their heads, which is motion activated. Now you know why there are only 10 out there.
3) OriginalFake Halloween OrnamentBesides Neckface, KAWS might be the preeminent spooky street artist. For the second year in a row KAWS has released a special edition Halloween ornament, in the style of an old '50s-style paper hanging monster. While you might toss one of those out at the end of October, this one, you might want to hold on to.
2) Nike Zoom Ashiko - HalloweenPerhaps the most accessible product on our list, we're feeling the new Nike Zoom Ashiko, regardless of seasonal colorway. Encorporating Nike's new flywire technology, yadda-yadda-yadda -- it just looks like a kick ass Nike boot, enough said. ACG is back.
1) Juxtapoz - October Issue, Curated by PusheadBefore KAWS and Neckface, there was Pushead, creating gross out horror illustrations for the best in heavy metal through the '80s and '90s. Taking his phlegmy, spooky vibes and tying in some of his favorites, Pushead put together a horror of a page turner for this month's issue of Juxtapoz.
