On the night of September 17th, in New York City, Brooklyn artists Mint & Serf hooked up with Queens graff artist Pork to paint the wall of the now defunct Manhattan night club Mr. West, and to announce "BES," a new eatery owned by NYC party promoter Patrick Duffy. Mint & Serf have been sought after to do commissioned pieces like this since they were tapped to curate the painting of 32 rooms at the hip new Ace Hotel in New York City.
The artists met up at the corner of 22nd Street and 11th Avenue in Manhattan to paint a design -- which they had only come up with that day -- cast onto the black wall by a projector, nestled across the street. StreetLevel was on the scene to document the process.
More after the jump.

As the crew set up their projector, beer, a small scaffolding, and one gallon (!) of paint, an SUV rolled by, and someone shouted "Keep it alive!"

Mint begins to paint the outline by hand, using an oil based paint.

"I've never done anything like this before," Serf said, referring to both the restaurant wall and the projector setup, as he outlined the second wall. You'll notice his headphones as he paints. Black Sabbath provided the soundtrack to the night's action.

Mint called up fellow artist and Team Facelift MC, Same, and tried to convince to lend a helping hand: "We're just setting up the lining, drinking some brews, outlining and filling in. [We'll] probably be up all night and s---." Eager to paint and hang with his homies Same came through to assist..

"Yo, this looks like hell," Pork joked, once they turned off the projector to survey their work.

"You gonna add drips?" Mint asked Pork.
"What is this, 1994?" he shot back.

And here we have the finished product, done under the cover of night and under the influence of beer and Sabbath.
