On January 24th, 2009, North Carolina State women's basketball coach Kay Yow passed away due to complications from stage IV breast cancer. She was 66 years old. And while she may be gone, her fight -- which began with her initial diagnosis in 1987 -- is far from over. The Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund was established in 2007, and Nike joined as a founding partner in 2008. What they can do, besides sponsoring events, is release shoes like this Air Zoom Soldier III, which features Yow's inverted pink ribbon logo on the forefoot strap, as well as a striking pink/white colorway. They dropped yesterday (September 15th) in limited numbers at Nike's House of Hoops NYC location. (For those of you who insist they can't wear pink no matter what, HoH also released some high school PEs, including Queens's Christ the King and Akron's St. Vincent-St. Mary.)
