With Independence Day upon us the discerning clotheshorse has to figure how to rep the "homeland" but not look like a star-spangled douche. Sewing two flags together to form a makeshift shirt is unacceptable, as are the bare-chested, banner-waving antics of Hacksaw Jim Duggan. Since we can't have you looking bad at the barbecues you'll be attending this weekend, we're providing you with a list of StreetLevel-approved clothing for your inner patriot. Whether you're a young Republican or you think Plymouth Rock landed on us, you'll be able to express yourself in style this July 4th.

Supreme "Love It Or Leave It" Mesh Back Hat
People often peg kids on the skate and streetwear scene as a bunch of liberal, leftist, hippies all hopped up on goofballs and funny brown cigarettes -- but we know better. A lot of the kids are red-blooded American youth with surprisingly conservative views. If you often find yourself offending your minority friends at the skate park and the "Team America: World Police" theme song is your anthem, then this is the hat for you. [Via A Continous Lean]

Ralph Lauren Polo "Classic-Fit Winged Foot" Polo
When it comes to reppin' the good ol' U.S. of A through clothing no one does it like Ralph Lifshitz from the Bronx a.k.a. Ralph Lauen. Polo is an American classic and an institution; it's worn everywhere from country clubs to the streets of the inner city. This particular shirt from the Spring/Summer '09 collection is a little piece of updated nostalgia for all the vintage gear addicts out there. Note the P-wing-esque winged foot graphic with the "K-Swiss" shield patch on the left breast. If you can't find it in a department store or an outlet cop it here.

Brooklyn Basements 5-Panel July 4th Caps
Speaking of Polo, the brand is not only a mainstay in urban style, it also inspired a generation of fashion-conscious kids to create their own clothing lines. The Brooklyn Basements brand is the brainchild of graffiti writer/sneaker and gear obsessive, Tommy Rebel; his pieces reference 'Lo at its early 90s finest and these 5-panel long-brimmed hats are no exception. Created annually for the purpose of showing off at July 4th outings, these hats are American as apple pie and as Brooklyn as illegal fireworks.

10.Deep "Indivisible" Tee
A couple of seasons back 10.Deep expressed their reluctant enthusiasm for Americana with this tee shirt that turns Old Glory upside down. If you're the "stop taking my rights away" or "stop torturing people" type, this is the t-shirt for you. [Via Extra Butter NY]

Pegleg NYC "Patriot" Tee
This is one for the hip, well-read, politically aware American who wants to represent but not too hard, for fear or being obnoxious or offensive. The red, white and blue are bold but still subtle and play nicely off the horizontal heather gray stripes on the torso. This shirt says "I'm proud to be an American, but I'm not gonna be a d*** about it."
