What'd you think? Honestly, I thought it was a joke.

As a Michael Jordan obsessive since way back, of course I knew the name Leroy Smith. He was the 6-7 dude that got the last spot on the Laney High varsity in 1978, during Jordan's sophomore year. (You can read the whole story here.) Wasn't that great a player, allegedly, but you can't teach 6-7. Mike was relegated to the JV, decided that he was never going to get cut again, and went on to become the greatest basketball player in the history of the universe. Leroy? Had no idea. Much like Mia Wallace's "Fox Force Five" pilot, I just assumed he went on to become nothin'.

Apparently I was wrong.

Here Leroy is again, with a basketball motivational website (complete with a petition to be inducted into the Hall of Fame) that looks like something lifted right out of the Chappelle Show. I actually had to watch the video just to make sure "Leroy" wasn't being played by Charlie Murphy. But the site is appearing in banner ads all over the place, so it must be real. And apparently Mr. Smith has been doing his motivational videos for some time-only the site is new: "Now, with the launch of my revolutionary website, I'm finally able to motivate the world, including Canada." So get your basketball on!
